Passion for Baking

I love to bake and have been working on my techniques since I was a youngster with my Easy-Bake Oven. It may not have been a real oven but I sure came up with some clever creations. As I got older, edible gift giving to family, friends and neighbors became a cherished family tradition. And our Shortbread cookies were always the most highly requested treat.

Family Traditions

Family and traditions are important to me. Some of my earliest and fondest family memories are enjoying the The Flower Fields® every spring with my parents. It was always followed by a stroll in the Village and lunch by the sea at the Harbor Fish House — it just didn’t get any better than that!

Lifetime Dreams

More recently I enjoyed an 18-year career within the Wine & Spirits industry. I had a lot of opportunities along the way, but I found my passion for creative expression through pairing wine with food. Working alongside some of our most notable chefs I was captured by their talents and commitment to their craft. Being a true pastry chef at heart, I came to the realization that devoting myself full-time to my passion of baking would take me on my most rewarding journey of all.

This fusion of my interests led to the development of our savory shortbread cookie collections that pair beautifully with still wine, sparkling wines and even whiskey! Pairing wine & spirits with food, is more of an art than a science and one I thoroughly enjoy.

I live in beautiful Carlsbad, CA where our climate provides an unparalleled agricultural landscape for producing locally grown harvests. I’m proud to support our local farmers and committed to utilizing only the finest local, sustainable and organic ingredients.

Combining my love of baking with my love of Carlsbad and my most cherished memories led me to create Carlsbad’s very own farm-to-bakery® cookie company. I hope you find Carlsbad Cookie Company as sweet as I do!

Carlsbad’s Rich History: Flower Fields – Ranunculus – Strawberry Fields

Since early in the 20th century when a pipeline was built to deliver water to our fertile soil, Carlsbad has been a haven for agriculture. Due to our nearly year-round perfect growing conditions, access to water and accessible transportation the industry flourished. Carlsbad was once even known as the “home of the avocado”.

The early 1920’s saw the beginning of flower growing in Carlsbad. Frank Frazee, considered the father of the flower fields, and the foremost commercial Ranunculus grower in his day, started growing a new strand of Ranunculus – Giant Tecolote Ranunculus. These are the colorful flowers we see in Carlsbad each Spring. In 1975 his sons moved the fields to the current location. To allow tourists to continue enjoying the 54 acres of delightful Ranunculus each Spring, Frank Frazee’s sons sold the fields to the city of Carlsbad in 1993 on condition they be held in perpetuity.

Today tourists come from around the world to visit Carlsbad and the flower fields. Between March 1 and May 10 as many as 200,000 visitors roam the flower fields. As one of the few working farms where people are still allowed to stroll through the beds make our fields especially unique.

Our strawberry fields have an equally rich history. The San Diego Strawberry Company has been farming the same ground for over 40 years. Our gentle weather climate allows for strawberries to grow almost year round. And many families make strawberry picking each Spring a family tradition.

Carlsbad flower and strawberry fields are historical and cultural landmarks that have been enjoyed by generations. Carlsbad Cookie Company honors our history by molding each cookie into the shape of a Ranunculus flower — making each cookie a natural and tasty reminder of Carlsbad.
